A&S Academic Excellence (Acadex)

The main purpose of Acadex is to provide travel funding to catalyze innovative research, creative and scholarly activities involving A&S and Mississippi State University. International travel to foster mutually beneficial partnerships that propel international research engagement is also encouraged.

Funding is available to support all fields and is expected to leverage external resources or collaborations resulting in impactful research and scholarly activities with the potential to elevate the ranking, reputation, and research productivity of A&S and MSU.

Acadex funds are made available through the generosity of the Arts & Sciences Advisory Board and the Dean's Office and are intended to facilitate scholarship and/or grantsmanship.

The following eligibility requirements and guidelines apply to requests for FY23 professional travel support from the College of Arts & Sciences Academic Excellence (Acadex) Fund.


ACADEX Eligibility Requirements and Guidelines

Round 1 (Travel Dates: July 1 - Dec. 31, 2023)

  • May 15th, 2023 : Application Opens
  • June 16th, 2023 : Application Deadline

Round 2 (Travel Dates: Jan. 1 - June 30, 2024)

  • October 16th, 2023 : Application Opens
  • November 15th, 2023 : Application Deadline

  1. Acadex applicants must be tenured or tenure-track faculty.
  2. Each applicant can be awarded Acadex funds only one time per fiscal year.
  3. Acadex funds will support travel resulting in scholarly activity and/or proposal development.
  4. Faculty must deliver a presentation if receiving Acadex funds to support travel to a professional meeting.
  5. The maximum Acadex request is $500. A 50% match is required from the home department or program.
